KENW Celebrates its 40th Anniversary!

I know it’s been “awhile” since I posted anything, but I wanted to let everyone know that KENW-TV will celebrate its 40th Anniversary on September 1st.  KENW-FM went on the air on October 1st, 1968.  We will have a reception and meet-and-greet during this year’s Homecoming, and it will be on Saturday, September 27th at 4:00 pm (or right after the football game!)  We’ll be meeting in Studio A at the new Broadcast Center for those of you who went to school at Eastern New Mexico University.  We hope everyone will come by and visit and tour the facility if you haven’t already done so.

Duane Ryan is still the one and only Director of Broadcasting for KENW-TV/FM, and we hope he stays a long, long time.  He continues to be involved in the day-to-day operation of both stations, and is a mentor to all of us who work with him.   If you are an alumni and not already getting our KENW Alumni newsletter, please send me your email address:  sheryl.borden@enmu.edu.  A new issue will be coming out very soon with more details about our anniversary celebration.

FYI:  We are almost ready to offer the position of Producer/Director to someone on Monday so be watching for that exciting news.  This person will work on “Creative Living” with me and then be in charge of the student newscast.  Can’t wait to get this person on board.

Mark your calendar for Eastern’s Homecoming, September 26-27 and come by the Broadcast Center on Saturday and help us celebrate our 40th Anniversary.  FYI:  ENMU will also be celebrating its 80th Anniversary – two exciting events in the same weekend.  I look forward to seeing you.
